I am a political theorist & philosopher who focuses on exploring Aristotle’s normative thought and contributing these insights to current debates, particularly those connected to institutional design. I am working on developing a role morality of rule & authority and a virtue ethics of vice & splendor. These two projects serve as a foundation for an overarching project of providing an Aristotelian response to the dominant theory of the state. I have a PhD in Political Science and Philosophy and an MA in Economics from Yale and did my undergraduate studies at Stanford.

You can find me at the gym’s weight room, walking around campus, and – like other Mexican-Americans – practicing my Spanish so that my grandmother (or abuela, as many movies like to call them) doesn’t complain that I am becoming less and less Mexican each day.
